Hollywood Theater

Relating to the urban condition of the site on the corner of Sunset and Cahuenga Boulevards, the procession of a theater-goer should represent a sequence that fluctuates in scale. The entry is a reflection of the larger context in order to mimic the scale of the street. The lobby space serves to ground the viewer and prepare them for a more intimate experience inside the theater space. The conceptual basis of the building is to have a centralized theater, with the backstage and auxiliary spaces wrapping around it - essentially a C-shaped diagram. As a result, there is a conceptual liner that defines the theater organization. In this project, this comes in the form of an interstitial space for circulation, with fluctuations in scale that carve out gathering spaces.
